Welcome!
By way of introduction: I am Jessica, born in Utah, raised in the PNW, specifically Washington. I graduated from BYU with a degree in sociology - which essentially means I diagnose whole groups of society and figure out what's wrong with the world for fun. I'm a fairly pessimistic person, which I'm completely fine admitting. I try and keep my expectations low so I can be pleasantly surprised if they are exceeded. I'm the oldest in my family, which is actually a large part of my identity. At any given point, on any given day, I'm 100% ok with going to Chipotles. I'm mostly anti-domestic and have a mild obsession with Starbucks peppermint hot chocolates, regardless of season. I'm not particularly crafty; my greatest DIY project involved a sewing machine, fabric, and a lot of tears. I will forever be more impressed with thousands of books rather than a Kindle. Harry Potter stole my heart in 7th grade and I haven't quite got it back yet.
Kyle was born in Illinois and raised in Utah. He graduated from BYU with a degree in Business Management and works at BambooHR. Kyle is a very optimistic person despite my best intentions ;) Fun fact: when I told my parents I was dating Kyle, my dad immediately Googled him and this website came up. I never once heard a word of caution from them after that. Kyle is a writer; he's working on a book he's thought about since middle school. Nearly every day he learns something new as his rampant curiosity sends him across the internet for information. He served his mission in Mexico City, where he left pieces of his heart and a proper gauge of spiciness. His favorite food is a tortilla with... well... anything. Kyle is the "people's person" as I like to think of him; he was elected to be the student body president of his high school and continues to be a friend to everyone he meets. Kyle is also the oldest in his family. He also can't smell for some unknown reason - he learned from his sister that popcorn actually had a scent.
Together, we are the Tuft's. We met my freshman year of college, just after Kyle got back from his mission. We were assigned to be lab partners in chemistry. (I promise you, we've heard every joke about this. Seriously). We started dating in March of 2011, broke up in September of that year, got back together in October, got engaged a week later, and were married 7 weeks later over Christmas break (Yes, we were insane). Since then we've learned a lot about each other, ourselves, and life; this little space of the internet is where we share some of that.
I created this blog at the beginning of my freshman year as a way to keep my family back home in Washington updated on my life. For some crazy reason, over time this little space has garnered more views from people other than my one loyal follower (thanks, mom). Feel free to read and stay if you wish. Just fair warning though: I don't take any sponsors or offer giveaways. I'm fairly sporadic with posting. My fashion sense is what I'd call "sub-par". I don't write about particularly "hot-topics" in an effort to not feed the internet trolls. I do post about things we find important, little updates on life, and I expect, a whole lot about our kids.
